How Himedi Vets Clinics in Korea — Hair Loss: LEEMOONWON Clinic

A home-like exterior, matched by a warm and approachable staff.

For a clinic of its size, welcoming around 4,000 international patients annually—without a single global marketer—is unusual. It has 1,191 Google reviews, maintaining a 4.9 rating. It also holds a 4.8 rating from 115 reviews on Klook. (As of March 24 2026)

Himedi has worked with LEEMOONWON Clinic for a long time. After focusing heavily on expanding our health checkup programs for U.S. customers, I revisited the clinic on March 24, 2026—our first visit in a while. Recently, we’ve seen a noticeable increase in inquiries from U.S. customers about this clinic. Our team wanted an updated, on-the-ground view.

A sign reads, “A life dedicated to treating hair loss.” Throughout the clinic, Dr. Lee Moon Won’s philosophy and history are displayed on the walls.

Medical Quality & Safety

Among Korean government institutions that promote medical tourism, LMW is considered one of the most reliable brands. Trust at this level doesn’t happen quickly. It reflects consistency—maintained over decades, including during the pandemic.

  • 10 patents, 11 academic papers, 2 published books
  • Recognition from the Korean Ministry of Health and Welfare, Seoul Metropolitan Government, and Korea Tourism Organization
  • Featured in numerous international magazines

From our perspective, LMW is a clinic that has been stubbornly focused on one thing—hair loss—for over 20 years. What stands out is not just the treatment itself, but what sits behind it. The clinic operates its own herbal medicine production facility and maintains an internal R&D lab. For a clinic of this size, this level of investment is unusual. Having worked in this industry for a long time, we’ve learned that clinics obsessed with quality and safety tend to invest heavily in things patients don’t immediately see.

From a patient’s perspective, what stands out is the breadth of hair and scalp-related services and products. At the core:

  • Scalp diagnosis
  • Consultation with a Korean medicine doctor
  • Customized herbal prescriptions

But beyond that, LMW offers a full ecosystem designed around hair health:

  • Internal medicine support
  • Natural sleep aids (sleep quality is closely tied to hair loss)
  • Hair spa treatments
  • Hair salon services
  • Supplements
  • Brushes, shampoos, and scalp care products

Hair loss medications come in multiple forms, from small pills to syrups. During the pandemic, DHL shipping became a key part of serving international patients.

Attention to even small design details creates a warm and comfortable atmosphere.

Rather than positioning this as a single treatment, the clinic approaches hair loss as a system.  For effectiveness, we recommend reviewing patient experiences across platforms(Google, Klook, etc).

"We do not use hormone drugs(steroids) or hormone blockers (finasteride). Treatments do not contain antibiotics, minoxidil, or immunosuppressive drugs. Children, women, athletes, and other people with diseases can be treated safely"

     — Dr. Lee Moon Won

Another key element is the use of natural ingredients sourced from Korea. LMW attracts a large number of patients from developed markets such as the U.S. and Japan. Many of these patients have already tried a wide range of treatments and products in their home countries. One of the reasons they choose LMW is the clinic’s focus on natural formulations. The key ingredients are...

  • Omija from Mungyeong, Gyeongbuk
  • Camphor Trees from Jeju Island
  • Ginger Blossoms from Hadong, Gyeongnam
  • Ginseng from Geumsan, Chungbuk
  • Camellia Flowers and Camellia Oil from Geoje Island, Gyeongnam
  • Maesaengi from Wando, Jeollanam-do
  • Danggui from Yeongwol, Gyeongbuk
  • Gosam from Yeoncheon,Gyeongbuk
  • Chukbaekyeop in Danyang, Chungbuk

Customer Experience

The private spa rooms are not luxurious, but calm and quiet—well-suited for rest.

The staff are approachable without being overwhelming. The clinic is housed in a residential-style building with a courtyard, which significantly changes the atmosphere. Patients often stay and relax even after completing their treatments.

“We are a small clinic. Because we take care of each patient closely, most of our growth comes from referrals. That’s why we don’t need marketers.”

— Director Kim Kyungmin, LMW

Second-floor salon entrance

The experience is designed to feel continuous. After finishing a hair spa treatment in a private room, patients move to the on-site salon on the same floor for styling. Hair designers complete the experience with drying and product styling. (Haircuts,  perms, and coloring are also available.) Given the clinic’s size and pricing, the salon does not feel like a revenue-maximizing add-on. Instead, it feels like a practical extension of the care process—something patients actually need. The overall impression is not luxury, but care.

On-the-Ground View

LMW could likely expand its space and accommodate more patients. It chooses not to.

The staircase displays the clinic’s 20+ years of consistent focus on hair loss research.

Instead of increasing patient volume, LMW continues to invest in R&D, production facilities, and service quality. It does not spend on marketing. It invests in staff mindset and consistency of care. Throughout the space, the philosophy of the chief director is visible.

We’ve known this clinic for years. What stands out is that it hasn’t changed. That consistency is rare—and it’s part of why the clinic continues to earn trust.
