Can You Customize a Health Checkup in Korea? What Himedi Customers Added in 2026
Yes. Most health checkup packages in Korea can be customized with additional tests based on your age, family history, and personal health concerns.
In 2025, 15,696 American visitors received health checkups in Korea, making the United States the largest source of international health checkup patients. However, among the roughly two million Americans who travel to Korea each year, most are still unfamiliar with how Korean health checkup packages work.
The structure can feel different from preventive care in the United States. Many travelers also arrive with specific tests in mind, particularly those that may be expensive, difficult to schedule, or not routinely included in preventive care at home. To provide a practical reference, we reviewed what Himedi customers actually ordered during the first half of 2026. After selecting a pre-designed health checkup package, these were the ten add-on tests they chose most often.

Three patterns stood out to me.
- Customers Make Practical Use of Existing Bloodwork. Most health checkup packages already include blood tests. Since blood is being drawn anyway, many customers add extra panels. Allergy testing was the most popular add-on in the first half 2026. DNA and genetic testing, AMH testing, vitamin panels, and ApoB testing were also common choices.
- Many Customers Complete Endoscopy While in Korea. Both allow physicians to examine the digestive tract directly. During a colonoscopy, potentially precancerous polyps may also be removed when appropriate. Many customers choose sedation and complete both procedures as part of the same checkup visit. In the United States, arranging and paying for endoscopy can be considerably more complicated.
- Brain and Heart Health Remain Major Concerns. The data also reflects customers’ long-term health concerns. Alzheimer’s risk testing ranked fifth, while coronary CT appeared among the ten most popular add-ons. These choices suggest that customers want to understand not only their current health, but also risks that may affect them later in life.
