About Himedi

It started with one checkup.

Himedi wasn't founded on a business plan. It grew out of a personal mission — to give more people the kind of access to their health that Korea made possible for us.

Our story

Two paths to the same realization.

William, a Korean American from Los Angeles, got his first full-body checkup in Korea after the pandemic. What struck him wasn't just the thoroughness — imaging, endoscopy, dozens of tests in a single morning — it was how accessible and affordable all of it was compared to anything he'd experienced in the US system.

Donkyo Seo had moved from Korea to the US for business school. Long before Himedi had a name, he was the person friends-of-friends called when they needed help navigating Seoul's hospitals — finding the right clinic, booking the appointment, making it all make sense.

Both had felt the frustration of US healthcare — from opposite sides of it.

So in 2024 the two lines of work converged. William started in New York with a one-page flyer. Donkyo was in Seoul, booking care for people one hospital at a time. That converging effort became Himedi — a government-licensed platform connecting international patients with the checkups that changed how we think about our own health.

Will and Donkyo, Himedi's founders, in Seoul

Donkyo Seo

Co-founder · Seoul → US

Was already helping people navigate Seoul's hospitals before Himedi existed. Built the clinic side from day one.

William

Co-founder · Los Angeles

Got one Korean checkup and couldn't un-see the gap. Started Himedi's US side with a flyer in New York.

The gap we close

"Checkup" doesn't mean what you think it means.

Most people hear "checkup" and picture a 20-minute visit and one blood draw. A Korean checkup is something fundamentally different — and that difference is the entire reason Himedi exists.

How we choose clinics

We visit every clinic. In person. Every time.

Korea has thousands of screening clinics. We walk the floors, meet the staff, and inspect the equipment ourselves — only clinics with strong medical reputations, advanced equipment, and genuinely patient-centered environments make the network.

1,000+clinics evaluated
300+approved partners

How we work

Exclusive packages. Everything handled.

We don't list clinics and ask you to compare — we've already done the comparison. Himedi builds exclusive checkup packages with vetted partner clinics, and routes every booking to the clinic best suited to it.

Every booking includes English support, appointment coordination, and a reviewed report — at no added fee. You pick the package and the date; we handle the rest of it.

Himedi is licensed by the Korean Ministry of Health & Welfare and earns referral fees from partner clinics — which means our incentive is simple: your checkup has to be worth the trust.

Take control of your health.

The checkup that started all of this is one booking away. Build yours in minutes — we'll handle the clinic and the logistics.
