How Himedi Vets Clinics in Korea — Fertility Checkup: CHA Magok

Preparing for pregnancy—and navigating fertility challenges—is one of the most important and emotionally demanding journeys in life. Couples often face significant stress, uncertainty, and time pressure along the way.

At Himedi, we have worked with some of Seoul’s most reputable fertility centers for years. Many of these are high-volume institutions, seeing 500+ patients per day—mostly local Korean patients. While medically excellent, the experience for international patients was often inconsistent: difficulty navigating the facility and rushed consultations with specialists. For something this important, that experience is simply not good enough.

In late March 2026, I spoke with Minhye Yang, Part Lead of Global Marketing at CHA Medical Group—widely recognized as one of the top IVF institutions globally. I shared our concerns candidly. Without hesitation, she recommended CHA Magok. After hearing her reasoning, I immediately scheduled a visit. On April 7, I toured the facility in person

CHA Magok is located within Magok Le West, one of Seoul’s largest MICE complexes, which also includes COEX Magok and the Mercure Hotel.

Magok: Seoul’s Newest Destination for Health, Culture, and Innovation

Magok is one of Seoul’s fastest-growing districts—where modern healthcare, culture, and global business come together. It is:

  • ~35 minutes from Shinnonhyun Station(line 9) in Gangnam via express subway
  • ~50 minutes by taxi from Gangnam, Seoul
  • Located along the route between Incheon Airport and central Seoul

This makes it especially convenient for American patients—whether arriving in Korea or heading to the airport after their checkup.

As a newly developed area, Magok offers clean, walkable streets and consistently modern infrastructure. It is also home to some of Korea’s most advanced medical facilities, including Bumin Prestige Lifecare Center. What makes Magok stand out, however, is the overall experience. Within short distance, you can explore Seoul Botanic Park, visit the LG Arts Center Seoul, or spend time in thoughtfully designed cafés(la coppella, godney) and quiet streets that feel very different from the more crowded parts of the city.

Everything in the area—from medical facilities to public spaces—is new, well-organized, and designed for ease of movement. It’s a part of Seoul where a medical visit can feel seamlessly integrated into a more relaxed, enjoyable day.

Medical Quality & Safety

Over 30 years ago, my mother received treatment at CHA’s Gangnam hospital. Even then, it was already known for its excellence in obstetrics and gynecology. Today, CHA Medical Group has grown into a global leader in fertility and stem cell medicine, operating:

  • 90+ hospitals and clinics worldwide
  • Locations in the United States, Japan, and Australia
  • Investments across Southeast Asia

CHA Magok, opened in November 2025, is their newest flagship—the largest fertility-focused center dedicated exclusively to reproductive medicine. This focus matters. When a top-tier medical group concentrates its resources on a single specialty, it can invest in building highly specialized medical teams and facilities within a fully integrated in-house system. As a result, CHA Magok is able to deliver, in a single visit and at a single location, the core services that couples need:

  • In-person consultation with a specialist
  • Female fertility testing (hormones, AMH, ultrasound)
  • Male fertility testing (semen analysis)

Most clinics fail to meet this standard. Common gaps include:

  • No AMH testing or...
  • No facility for male testing or...
  • Fragmented services across multiple locations

There is a clear mismatch between what couples actually need and what many clinics provide. From a patient’s perspective, being required to visit multiple clinics is both inefficient and stressful. Fertility is a shared responsibility—male factors contribute to roughly half of all cases. A truly patient-centered system should reflect that. CHA Magok does.

Customer Experience

The facility consists of two identical towers:

  • Tower A: Local patients
  • Tower B: Dedicated exclusively to international patients

Many CHA branches already have strong medical infrastructure. But what differentiates Magok—and why we selected it—is international customer experience by design.

1) Direct English Communication: At high-volume clinics, international patients often feel lost—not because of medical quality, but because of communication. When surrounded by tens of local patients:

  • Signage is Korean-first
  • Kiosks require Korean phone numbers
  • Staff may not be immediately identifiable as English-speaking

Even if translation exists, the initial confusion creates anxiety. At CHA Magok, this friction is removed.

2) Privacy by Design: Fertility testing—especially male testing—requires a high level of privacy. Many general checkup centers do not offer semen analysis simply because:

  • It requires dedicated, private facilities
  • The environment must minimize stress

At CHA Magok, the male testing rooms are clearly designed with this in mind:

  • Clean, controlled environment
  • Comfortable lighting
  • Complete privacy

You can tell immediately that this was not an afterthought. As Kihoon Kim, Global Communication Team Leader at CHA Magok, put it:

“If the patient feels at ease, the sample will too.”

On-the-Ground View

Many of our American customers prefer scheduling checkups on their departure day, spending just 2–3 hours in the morning before heading to Incheon Airport. Going forward, we expect more customers to check in to the Mercure Hotel in Magok the night before departure, take time to explore the area at a relaxed pace, and then complete their fertility checkup the next morning before heading to the airport.

Conversely, some customers may choose to stop by Magok upon arrival. Early check-in is rarely available at hotels in Seoul, while most flights from the U.S. arrive early in the morning. Rather than waiting hours to check in, more customers are likely to complete their checkup in Magok first, then check into the Mercure Hotel and explore the area at their own pace. In this case, customers can also return for an in-person post-consultation approximately 10 days later, before their departure.
